Battle Creek Highlights

Education & Training

Battle Creek Job Club serves a diverse population with equally diverse interests in education. Most participants know their lives will change dramatically if they choose to attend training, even if training is as short as two weeks. Not only do participants see a change in their financial status immediately, but their self-esteem also increases. Many mention that attending training has been a big accomplishment because of the hard work and time required to complete the training. They express a sense of pride because they feel it has been such a long time since they accomplished anything.

One very popular training program is Nurses’ Aide Training. The convenience of this training is endless. The demand is growing, and with only two weeks of training, participants can earn up to $12.00 an hour or more. Participants also talk about the rewarding feeling of helping others. Many participants entering this field really enjoy helping the elderly and choose to make it their career.

Other popular areas of training chosen by participants include Health, Education, Clerical, Human Services, Technical, and Truck Driving. Participants obtain employment as Commercial Truck Drivers, Nursing Assistants, Clerical Assistants, Medical Assistants, and Medical Billers, as well as many others.

Transportation Services

Battle Creek Job Club is fortunate to have 2 vans to transport participants to and from work. The vans' first pick ups begin at 4 a.m., and the last pick up is at 12:15 a.m. Five drivers and one substitute rotate shifts throughout the week. The vans have helped transport more people to work and home thus saving on other supportive service costs.

Other supportive service options include cabs, busses, mileage reimbursements, auto repairs, and auto purchases.

Since 2001, Battle Creek has, on average, serviced 60 working participants and provided 513 rides per month.
